Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

1. The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. We believe that the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible is God’s preserved Word in the English language and that it is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We reject modern translations as corrupt and hold to the KJV as the complete and perfect Word of God.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV): “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
  • Psalm 12:6-7 (KJV): “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

2. The Godhead (Trinity)

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—coequal, coeternal, and coexistent. These three are one God, having the same nature and attributes, but distinct in their persons.

  • Matthew 28:19 (KJV): “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
  • 1 John 5:7 (KJV): “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

3. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious death (He died in our place) on the cross for the sins of the world, His bodily resurrection, and His ascension into Heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of God as our High Priest and Advocate.

  • John 1:1 (KJV): “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (KJV): “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

4. Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are essential for salvation. It is a gift of God, not of works, and cannot be earned by human merit. We believe in the eternal security of the believer, that once saved, we are kept by God’s power and are secure in Christ forever.

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV): “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
  • John 10:28-29 (KJV): “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

5. The Church

We believe that the local church is a body of born-again believers, united by faith in Christ, observing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and committed to the Great Commission. Each local church is autonomous and free from any external authority or control. The New Testament local church is the pillar and ground of the truth and exists for the preaching of the Gospel, the edification of believers, and the glorification of God.

  • Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV): “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”
  • 1 Timothy 3:15 (KJV): “… the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”

6. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe that baptism is by immersion, following a person’s salvation, as a public testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is not a means of salvation but an act of obedience. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s death and is to be observed by baptized believers until He returns.

  • Romans 6:4 (KJV): “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
  • 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 (KJV): “And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.”

7. The Priesthood of All Believers

We believe in the priesthood of every believer, meaning that each believer has direct access to God through Jesus Christ and can intercede for themselves and others. No intermediary other than Christ is necessary for access to God.

  • 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV): “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”

8. Separation from the World

We believe that all believers are called to live a life of holiness and separation from the world and its sinful practices. As followers of Christ, we are to pursue righteousness, godliness, and purity, abstaining from worldly influences that are contrary to the teachings of Scripture.

  • 2 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV): “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

9. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the literal, visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth. His return will be pre-millennial and imminent. First, He will rapture the church, and then He will return to establish His millennial kingdom. We believe in the eternal state of heaven for believers and hell for the unbelieving lost.

  • 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (KJV): “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
  • Revelation 20:6 (KJV): “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

10. The Eternal Destiny of Souls

We believe in the eternal destiny of all people. Those who have trusted in Christ for salvation will spend eternity in heaven with God, while those who reject Christ will be eternally separated from God in hell.

  • John 3:16 (KJV): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
  • Revelation 20:15 (KJV): “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
